Island Lake Conservation Area offers outdoor adventures all year round.
Located on the northeast corner of Orangeville, Island Lake Conservation Area features a 182 hectare reservoir surrounded by wetland, forest and meadow. The natural landscape and diverse wildlife are conveniently located just steps from the urban centre of Dufferin County. A well-maintained system of trails guide hikers and cyclists over boardwalks and through tree-lined paths.
During the warmer months, visitors can rent a canoe or kayak and explore the little seen areas of the surrounding shoreline or bring their fishing rods and spend the day reeling in bass, pan fish and pike.
As the weather becomes cooler and the snow begins to fall, Island Lake becomes dotted with ice fishing huts as anglers reel in the catch of the day, skaters glide along the lake surface, and the trails come alive with snow-shoers and cross-country skiers.
